We spent our Christmas holidays at this incredible, relatively unknown / non-touristy town called Sappada. We stayed at the 'Albergo Bellavista' (link below) and it was the most amazing, incredible, romantic and magical experience of my life. The Hotel is quite low key, but serves great food, and has incredible views from the balcony. The skiing is not top rate, all Black Run stuff, but the runs are beautiful and there was an abundance of fresh powder. There is a bus that runs from Sappada town to the ski mountain of Monte Sierra, only about 15 minute bus ride away. There you will find plenty of opportunity for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiing. The runs are just beautiful and the instructors for me who was learning to snow board were brilliant. It was the all round experience though of this area. Not too crowded, great food, very special atmosphere, romantic and classically 'Christmassy' town, made it the perfect winter wonderland.
TIPS: Eat, drink and be merry.
